My sister suggested I look at the NCLR National Council de La Raza page. Awesome. It’s a page that promotes and helps the hispanic community. The only problem I have with this? Stereotypes. I feel like everytime a ‘hispanic’ or ‘raza’ driven association is presented upon me, I automatically have to look and act like American Ferrera in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Not really my thing. It’s not that I’m embarrassed of my ‘roots’, I just don’t feel like we all fit that certain mold and must all act alike. They swear like if we all like eating salsa and chips and are attracted to vibrant red and purple colors. (I like salsa and chips btw haha) I’d rather join a youth job oppurtunity group. That being said, that is what I’m going look for.
